Fryderyk Chopin (1810-49) is among the most popular and beloved composers of all time. Two hundred years after his birth, Chopin's music continues to inspire performers and captivate audiences. The broad appeal of his music is demonstrated by the large number of Chopin competitions and festivals held throughout the world.

The Canadian Chopin Society is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the legacy of Chopin, and to supporting young artists. Every five years, in preparation for the prestigious International Fryderyk Chopin Competition, the Canadian Chopin Society presents a festival and competition. In the years between, the Society presents concerts, workshops, lectures and master classes, and provides performance and scholarship opportunities for young Canadian pianists.
